Time of Admission to University of Calcutta:

Academic session of the Calcutta University, every year, starts from the fist day of July and ends on the 30th of June of the next year. That’s why just after the end of each academic session the admission opens for the University of Calcutta. In this context it is very relevant to mention that admission to the undergraduate courses begins after the results of Higher Secondary Examination are out. Admission Procedure in the University of Calcutta:

The University of Calcutta follows strict admission procedure. The admission procedure is strictly dependent on marks obtained by the students in the previous examinations. For the purpose of applying to the desired course, the aspirant is required to fill up the application form and along with it he is required to submit all those relevant documents, on the basis of which it will be judged whether he is eligible for getting admission in that discipline.

Admission for Foreign Students:

The University of Calcutta provides ample admission opportunity for the foreign students, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. But, Calcutta University admission procedure also includes, for foreign students, certain formalities, which are required to be fulfilled by them while applying for admission. The aspirants must have students’ visa for the purpose of taking admission to University of Calcutta. They are also required to apply to the respective embassies or High Commissions along with the relevant papers. They will get a chance to get admission in the university only when their application will be supported by ‘no objection’ from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Admission Procedure for Other University Students:

Those who are not Calcutta University students are also welcome to apply to any of the undergraduate or post graduate course, offered by the university. For this purpose, they have to submit the results of their last examination and migration certificate from the previous board or university.

Admission Scenario of University of Calcutta

Every year, the academic session of University of Calcutta commences from the 1st July and it ends on 30th June of the next year. The University of Calcutta has provided affiliation to more than 200 colleges throughout the State of West Bengal. Admission procedure for undergraduate courses starts after the publication of the Higher Secondary examination results. On the other hand, once the results of the final year B.A /B.Sc/B.Com is out, almost immediately admission procedure for post graduate courses starts.

Important Months:

For the purpose of keeping a proper track with admission scenario in University of Calcutta, the students are required to focus on notice regarding distribution of application forms after publication of Higher Secondary results and final year Graduation results, respectively.

Students have to make sure that within the prescribed date for the submission of application forms they have to submit their duly filled application forms.

Aspirants, who will be applying for M.Phil courses, are required to pass the selection test for their admission in the respective field of study. So they must make a plan and start preparing for the entrance examination.

Selection Procedure:

Selection procedure in University of Calcutta is quite strictly based on merit and marks obtained by the candidate in the last Board level examination. There will be department wise entrance examination and interview for selection of candidates, applying for post graduate courses.
